A BAR and restaurant is seeking to have its opening hours extended making it the latest closing bar in Chingford.

RnR Wine bar at 225 Chingford Mount Road will go before the council this week, asking for permission to open until 3am at weekends, and 4am on 18 occasions.

The two storey premises, located at the end of the parade of shops between Albert Avenue and Frankland Road, currently closes at 1am at weekends.

But owner Mr Devendra Bungaradu will seek to change that in front of the licensing committee at the town hall on Thursday (November 12).

In a statement ahead of the meeting the bar’s owner has claimed they have a strict anti-social behaviour policy, excessive noise policy and that all residents’ concerns will be taken care of.

It stated: “Excessive noise and nuisance is taken very seriously at RnR Wine Bar as it will cause disruptions to the neighbours, working people and the area.

“A volume level device is installed behind the bar area, so management and staff has full control of the level of music.”

Councillors and three residents have objected, as well as the police.

Councillor John Moss wrote: “The premises are close to residential properties, have no dedicated parking and extending the opening hours would cause and increase in public nuisance and increase the risk of crime and anti-social behaviour.”

Police Constable Kitchen for Valley Ward said it will be the latest bar open in the area, and will attract those who have left other bars and pubs.

Although the officer who has been in the area for ten years said he would not stop the business from thriving, he claimed it was not a necessary or right move for Chingford.
