A group of Wanstead artists are calling on people from the area to join them on a climate march with their personalised banner this weekend.

The People’s March for the climate, justice and jobs will take place in central London on Sunday (November 29).

Artists Kathy Taylor and Francesca Jaggs had the idea to make the banner during the September Wanstead Art trail themed ‘We Are the Environment’.

The banner includes the work of seven artists from the area who volunteered to contribute.

The group was gathering support on High Street, Wanstead, on Saturday.

Next month, world leaders are meeting in Paris to discuss how to tackle the issue of climate change and world fossil fuel consumption.

Ms Jaggs said: “We want to encourage people from Wanstead to come with us on the march."

Ms Taylor added: “Unless governments know that people care about the climate they will think they can get away with modest actions to combat global climate change, or none at all.

“We invite everyone to come on this march and make it known how they feel these issues.

“People in major cities all over the globe will also be marching on this day."

This December, world leaders are meeting in Paris where they could agree to a goal of getting the world off fossil fuels and onto a clean energy track.

If you would like to take part and march with the Wanstead banner (whether you are from Wanstead or not) meet outside Wanstead tube station at 11.15am on Sunday (November 29).

Alternatively join the Wanstead group at the Piccadilly end of Down Street near Hyde Park Corner at 12.15pm.

The march begins near Hyde Park Corner at 12.30pm.
