Members of a synagogue visited a children’s hospice as part of a community action day yesterday.
Representatives from Woodford Liberal Synagoue, in Marlborough Road, called in at Haven House Hospice, in High Road, Woodford Green.
It was part of the annual Mitzvah Day, celebrated yesterday (November 22), which encourages people to take part in community projects which make a difference to local areas.
Rabbi Richard Jacobi and former MP Lee Scott were among those visiting the hospice.
The group watched a slide show presentation on what the hospice offers and then they helped with gardening and clearing leaves.
Rabbi Richard Jacobi said: “It was a real privilege for our young people and their parents to gain an understanding of just how superbly Haven House cares the children and their families.
“We as a synagogue feel honoured to play a small part in supporting the works of the hospice."
