A man diagnosed with terminal cancer has completed his bucket list after his charity to grant wishes to children and adults with life limiting diseases was officially registered.

Wanstead resident Frank Charles who has non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a cancer affecting the immune system, has registered Give a Give Appeal as a charity this week.

The 52-year-old, of Chester Road, cycled the 880-mile route from Land’s End to John O'Groats earlier this year as part of his long-running charity efforts.

He was inspired by his baby son Ashley, who died at 23 months from Hirschsprung’s disease in 1989, a rare disorder of the bowel.

Since being diagnosed with cancer in 2010, the fundraiser has set up the East London Food Bank and was an Olympic torchbearer in 2012.

He has now completed his bucket list of cycling the length of the country, riding a Segway and visiting Las Vegas.

Loughton-based Haslers accountants helped with his final wish, registering his Give a Gift Appeal charity for free.

He said: “This was the last thing on my bucket list so I was so happy that Haslers agreed to sort everything out for me.

“I want to give a big thank you to everyone who has supported me and I am grateful for all the contributions made so far.

“Getting the charity registered is important because people are more likely to give to charities and it makes it more legitimate.

“It will also be a legacy I would like to leave behind.”

Mr Charles will be giving presents to children in Leytonstone’s Whipps Cross Hospital at 2pm on December 16.

He said: “I am gearing up for my yearly event giving presents to kids at the hospital.

“I have plans for the Give a Gift Appeal such as yearly trips to the seaside for people with life threatening illnesses, both adults and children.

“Getting diagnosed with cancer was a big blow for me but this bucket list has helped me and I am really pleased to achieve it."
