Severe delays are affecting traffic on the M25 anticlockwise after a mobile crane burst into flames, forcing the closure of some lanes.
Although two closed lanes have now reopened following the fire, which happened shortly before 6am, there are delays of about 40 minutes between junction 27 for the M11 near Epping and junction 30 for Lakeside.
The cab of the vehicle, which has also been described as a lorry, was completely consumed by flames and it took firefighters until 6.33am to extinguish the fire.
The Highways Agency expects "normal traffic conditions" to return by 8.30am.
