Wanstead's Christmas lights are turned on back in 2011.
The Christmas lights are set to be switched on in Wanstead later today.
The festivities will take place on the Green opposite the George pub at 4.30pm.
Carols will be sung by children from Wanstead Church School at the annual event and The Salvation Army band will be attending.
Wanstead's Pearly King and Queen will officially switch on the lights at 5pm.
