Eleven Brentford fans emulated the feats of supporters from 40 years ago by walking 64 miles from Brighton to Brentford last weekend to help raise more than £3,000 for Bees United, the club's supporters' trust, with 15 per cent going to Cardiac Risk in the Young.

The other finishers were Ian Gilding, Tom Lloyd, Doug Waller, Perry Richards, Peter Maynard, Doug Collins, Terry Good, Claire McNicholls, Chris Tate and Gary Evans.

Manager Terry Butcher welcomed the walkers home together with three players who were involved in the first walk back in 1967, Peter Gelson, Gordon Philips and Alan Hawley.

Stephen Brent and Gayle Sheldon, who came from Leeds, completed 45 miles before being picked up and brought to Brentford to recover prior to catching a coach back to Leeds on Sunday night.
