A wildlife conservation group has started its annual clearing of Wanstead Park in preparation for year ahead.
Wren Wildlife group volunteers will be working throughout January and February to clear brambles from Chalet Wood to ensure a healthy bluebell season in April.
Group member Gill James said: “We also keep the paths clearly delineated by placing logs along the sides to discourage people from walking on the foliage, which kills the plants.”
The work is being carried out from 10am today, January 7, as well as on January 14, and on February 11, 18 and 25, when new volunteers will be welcome.
