People have been invited to have their say on the future of a chapel which is in urgent need of repair.
Ongar Town Council is set to hold a two-month consultation over the chapel in the town cemetery, next to the High Street and Love Lane.
Organisations and people can put forward ideas for the building, which needs priority repair work costing at least £2,000.
English Heritage-backed plans for a museum in the chapel were abandoned after the town’s history society pulled out, saying it was too small and in the wrong place.
Three estimates for the repair work have also been labelled as “far higher” than the £2,000 to £3,000 budget suggested by council vice-chairman councillor John Reynolds.
As well as the two-month consultation, the issue will be raised at the upcoming annual town meeting.
