All state schools in Wanstead, Woodford, Clayhall, and Barkingside achieved above the national average in GCSE results, figures have revealed today.

Figures released by the Department for Education show that last year all state-funded schools in the area had more pupils achieving five or more A* to C grades, including English and Maths, than the national average of 57.1 per cent.

The school with the highest number of pupils with at least five A* to C grades was Woodford County High School for girls in High Road, Woodford Green, scoring 97 per cent.

Trinity Catholic High School in Mornington Road, Woodford Green, also scored highly with 78 per cent. In 2014 it achieved 81 per cent.

Wanstead High School in Redbridge Lane West achieved 70 per cent, an eight per cent increase on the previous year’s figure.

Woodbridge High School in St Barnabas Road, Woodford Green, scored 62 per cent, down two per cent from 2014.

King Solomon High School in Forest Road, Barkingside, had 57 per cent of its pupils achieving five or more A* to C grades, down 10 per cent from the previous year.

Caterham High School in Caterham Avenue, Clayhall scored 61 per cent, down from 65 in 2014.
