A teenager has been banned from Walthamstow Marshes after flashing five women in just four days last summer.

Nathaniel Mundle, 19, of Oulton Close, Hackney, appeared yesterday (January 21) at Snaresbrook Crown Court.

He was due to be sentenced after admitting to the five offences, but Judge Martyn Zeidman ordered an assessment of his mental state.

A sentencing date was then set for next month.

The court heard that Mundle exposed himself to five separate women close to the beauty spot including a young mother out cycling with her child.

He lurked in the area waiting for his victims in July 2015.

His first victim was cycling along the pathway towards Lea Bridge Road on July 10 when Mundle jumped out in front of her, pulled down his trousers and exposed his penis.

At around 8am the next day another woman was riding her bike through the underpass on the same road towards Lea Valley Park when she spotted Mundle pleasuring himself.

On July 12, a woman walking her dog saw Mundle with his hands inside the waistband of his shorts as she approached the Lea Valley Riding Centre.

Coming out of the underpass together, Mundle again dropped his underwear and flashed the woman.

A fourth victim was targeted by Coppermill Lane, Walthamstow, at around 5pm the following day when Mundle lifted his T-shirt when spotted by the woman showing her that his underwear were around his ankles.

Barely half an hour later a fifth woman was out cycling with her one-year old child strapped to the handlebars when she too spotted Mundle who had his trousers and underwear pulled halfway down his thighs.

He was arrested on July 17 and eventually admitted five counts of exposure after police found clothing described by the victims at his home.

The teenager has been remanded in custody since his arrest in July.

At the court yesterday, Judge Zeidman warned Mundle to co-operate with the assessment and expressed his wish to pass a suspended sentence or community order rather than keep him locked up.

He said: “I know I spoke to you on the last occasion but from my point of view it is absolutely essential you listen and understand what I am saying.

"You need to grasp the fact that nobody wants to see your penis.

“You must not expose it to other people – to do so is a criminal offence.

“However much you want to do so you have to stop exposing yourself.

“If you ever do so again you will be back in prison for a very long time so you must stop.

“I have absolutely no doubt that you need help.

“You do not need further punishment, especially as you have been in prison for so long.

“I am going to grant you bail so that you can be assessed.

“You are not going to let me down are you?”

Mundle was bailed with the condition that he does not leave his Hackney home between the hours of 9pm and 7am.

He must attend his assessment appointment on February 3 and probation appointment today.

Mundle is also banned from the N11 postcode and Walthamstow Marshes.

He will be sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court on February 10.
