A Wanstead diversity campaigner met Nelson Mandela’s daughter and three well-known anti-Apartheid activists during their London visit last week.
Miranda Brawn, of Hermon Hill, Wanstead, welcomed Maki Mandela, and the last three surviving anti-Apartheid activists who stood trial with Nelson Mandela in 1963, to the Black Cultural Archives, where she is vice chairman.
Labour MP for Streatham Chuka Umunna also took part in the tour, which followed the group’s visit to Downing Street to meet Prime Minister David Cameron.
Ms Brawn said: “It was very inspiring to meet our guests from South Africa, who signify great strength, courage and sacrifice for racial equality and justice.”
