A ‘constantly supportive, positive and optimistic’ nurse has been honoured for her “exemplary” care of people with dementia.

Dimple Jose, a nurse at Ashbrook Court Care Home in Sewardstone Road, Waltham Abbey, won the Good Nurse Award at the London Care Awards on Saturday (January 30).

The clinical leader at Ashbrook Court for nearly 10 years, Ms Jose manages a complex unit for people in the latter stages of dementia.

She received the Department of Health-backed award at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane for ‘combining the best of clinical skills with a caring approach’ in her work.

She said: “I am so thrilled to have won this award.

“I love my job and I have always given it 100 per cent.

“But I know I wouldn’t have won it without the incredible support I get from the whole care team at Ashbrook Court.”

Ms Dimple’s manager Louise Baxter said she thoroughly deserved the award.

She said: “End of life care for people with dementia can be very tough.

“But Dimple successfully combines her skills as a nurse with her ability as a carer, enabling people with very challenging behaviours and communications issues to live as content and full a life as possible.”

Not only does Ms Dimple care for residents, she also helps their loved ones cope with the distressing effects dementia can have.

Ms Baxter said: “She receives countless accolades from relatives for the work she does.

“We are all very proud of her here at Ashbrook Court.”

She added: “Constantly supportive, positive and optimistic, Dimple leads her team by example – demonstrating exactly what exemplary care looks like and encouraging those who work with her to regard looking after those with dementia as a privilege.”
