A dog rescue centre has received a £5,500 charity grant to provide 10 new beds and cover half of its vet bills this year.
Support Adoption For Pets gave the grant to RSPCA Essex South West branch is located at Chingford Kennels, in Chingford Mount Road.
The RSPCA branch rescues and finds new homes for over 60 dogs a year.
Many dogs arrive confused and frightened and often take out their frustration on their bedding, chewing blankets and beds.
But the 10 new beds are virtually indestructible and provide warm raised platforms for the dogs to sleep on, rather than the floor.
They are suitable for dogs recovering from operations and are easy to clean.
Trish Smith, RSPCA Essex South West trustee, said: “We are thrilled to receive our first ever grant from Support Adoption For Pets.
“It will have a huge impact by helping us to provide the best possible veterinary care and new beds for our dogs, many of which are elderly or have on-going medical issues."
