Lessons had a continental twist for pupils this week as a school held a week of French-themed activities.

St Johns C.E. School in Buckhurst Hill held French Week to teach its children about the country’s culture and language.

With an iconic French building model competition, learning trail around the school and ‘French waiter and waitress’ race for parents, headmaster Peter Tidmarsh said he was "delighted" with the event.

He said: “We have been delighted with the range of activities and experiences that French Week has provided.

“As ever the parents support has been outstanding and coupled with the hard work of the staff our children have had a semaine fantastique (fantastic week).”
