Police have arrested three men in connection with an investigation of historic child sexual abuse at an Ongar boarding school.
Officers have launched a probe into allegations of abuse at Elmbridge Boarding School in the 1980s and early 1990s.
Two men from Colchester, aged 36 and 79, have been arrested in connection with the investigation and released on bail until March 29, pending further enquiries.
A 65-year-old man from London has also been arrested and released on bail until May 25, pending further enquiries.
Elmbridge first opened as a school for truants in 1895. It then operated as Fyfield County Secondary Boarding School after the Second World War.
It was renamed Elmbridge Boarding School following a merger with Hockerhill and Elmbridge boarding schools in 1980.
The school was closed in 2001 and its buildings converted for residential use.
Enquiries are continuing and Essex Police has asked anyone with information that could assist the investigation, to call detectives at Brentwood on 101.
