An U14 football team, made up of players from Waltham Forest, are currently taking part in a soccer tour of Northern Cyprus, sponsored by Chingford-based property company Partners Abroad Ltd.
The boys, mainly from Chingford, are scheduled to play a total of four games which have been organised by the Turkish Cypriot Football Association. Their opponents will be District teams from around the island.
Playing under the team name of Partners Abroad, the first match was on Sunday against Kyrenia District. This week matches against Morphou District, Famagusta District were scheduled ending with the last game of the tour against Nicosia District on Saturday.
The first match was a hard fought battle, which the Waltham Forest team won 4-2. The game was watched by a crowd of more than 200, including 40 family and friends of the Partners Abroad team who travelled over with the side to support the boys.
Partners Abroad is a family run property company with offices in Chingford, London and in Kyrenia , North Cyprus. The company hopes that this tour will be the first of many and have been warmly welcomed by the Cypriot people.
