TICKETS for a series of events marking the life of the celebrated Woodford Green feminist, Sylvia Pankhurst, have gone on sale.
Writer and academic Germaine Greer will one of a panel discussing the indefatigable Miss Pankhurst' on July 8 at Bancroft's School.
Miss Pankhurst who lived in Woodford Green for 34 years is best remembered for her campaign over women's suffrage, but was also a tireless campaigner on a whole range of social issues during her long and eventful life.
A VIP dinner takes place on the evening of July 8 in Prezzo's restaurant, South Woodford, and a play entitled Who is Sylvia?', adapted from a biography by Shirley Harrison, runs at the Redbridge drama centre for three nights from Friday, July 6.
Professor Greer will be joined on the panel by Ms Harrison, Prof Patrick Wright, and former Redbridge Mayor, Linda Perham, who will be examining Ms Pankhurst's achievements and her relevance today. Guest of honour will be Miss Pankhurst's son Richard, whose 80th birthday it is this year.
