One of the men involved in a car crash that delayed traffic for over seven hours last week has died.

The Metropolitan Police’s Collision Investigation Unit are investigating after two of their officers came across a damaged vehicle with two men inside last Thursday (April 28).

The A406 North Circular was closed eastbound for over seven hours after the one-car collision between the M11 interchange at Charlie Brown’s Roundabout in South Woodford and the A12 junction at Redbridge Roundabout at around 4.30am.

The 31-year-old passenger was taken to an east London hospital by air ambulance but later died in hospital.

His identity has not been revealed but police say his next of kin has been informed.

The 24-year-old man, believed to be the driver, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He was charged and bailed until later this month.

The traffic stretching back as far as Woodford, Snaresbrook, Walthamstow and Chingford finally cleared at around 1pm after accident investigation work ended.
