The Archdeacon of West Ham has said he is “delighted” to welcome Wanstead’s new Rector.

Reverend Dr Jack Dunn has been chosen to replace Revd Liz Horwell, who retired as the parish Rector after nine years of service in January.

Revd Dunn is currently the priest-in-charge of St Andrew’s Church in Colworth Road, Leytonstone and served his curacy in Chelsea after being ordained in 2011.

Archdeacon of West Ham, Elwin Cockett of the Diocese of Chelmsford, said: “I’m delighted for the parish of Wanstead.

“Jack Dunn is an excellent priest and I have no doubt that he and his family will be made very welcome in the community around Christ Church and St Mary’s.”

After a lengthy selection process, which included the final three candidates meeting the ministry team, other local clergy and the head teacher of Wanstead Church School, Revd Dunn’s appointment was announced on Sunday (May 1).

Revd Dunn’s installation will take place on September 7 at St Mary’s Church, in Overton Drive, Wanstead.
