It is “just another day” for a fish shop owner when David Beckham turns up for his saveloy.
Tuncay Bulbul, owner of Chingford’s Fish and Chicken, in Chingford Mount Road, didn’t bat an eye lid when the global sports star came in for his usual yesterday (May 3).
The former Manchester United midfielder regularly visits the shop with his son Cruz and he always orders the same meal.
The shop's owner, Mr Bulbul, 28, said: “It’s always big and it’s always a saveloy, half a chicken, scampi, and a cod and chips.
“It wasn’t much of thing when he came in with Cruz yesterday, I just said hello and asked him if he wanted his usual.
“It was his birthday the day before so we think he was coming in for a nice treat.”
For some of the staff it was their first time meeting the footballer and a few were understandably nervous.
Mr Bulbul added: “The girls serving him couldn’t take the order because they couldn’t breathe they were so excited.
The self-confessed Gooner was pleased to see David’s youngest son not following in his father’s footsteps on a previous visit.
He said: “Last time he came Cruz was wearing an Arsenal shirt and I told him he was on the right path.”
The shop has its fair share of famous fish enthusiasts with grime artist Chunky and R&B singer Shaun Escoffery both loyal customers.
