A midwife from Walthamstow enjoyed a special delivery when she scooped £25,000 in the People’s Postcode Lottery.

Racquel Lowe, 30, from Church Lane, bagged the prize when her lucky postcode, E17 9RW, was drawn on Saturday (June 4).

The mum-of-one lives in a flat with son, William, but hopes the win will help realise her dream of moving to a bigger home.

She said: “I can’t believe I’ve won, it’s crazy. When the cheque was pulled out of the envelope and I realised how much I’d won I was in shock. I’m still in shock.

“I don’t know if this will happen again to me in my lifetime, so I’m not going to squander the money. This will be a good deposit for a new home for me and my son.

“All my friends have told me that I work really hard and that I deserved to win. The reaction from everyone has been really lovely.”

Over £124.1 million has been raised to date by players of the charity lottery for good causes across Great Britain and internationally.

The Forest Recycling Project, in Walthamstow, received £20,000 this year from the Postcode Local Trust.

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador, Matt Johnson, who presented the cheque to Racquel on her doorstep, said: “This was a fantastic first day as an ambassador and Racquel’s reaction was brilliant.

“I am thrilled to be part of this experience, meeting players and delivering the golden envelopes.”
