The Armed Forces Day flag was raised at Epping Forest District Council’s civic offices.

The flag raising ceremony at the council’s civic offices took place on Monday (June 20) ahead of Armed Forces Day this Saturday (June 25).

The ceremony was led by Reverend Peter Smith of Waltham Abbey Church and council chairman Cllr Jeane Lea.

Cllr Lea said: “Raising the Armed Forces Day flag is our chance to say thank you to all the extraordinary men and women who protect us.

“On behalf of the Epping Forest district I would like to say a big thank you.

“Armed Forces Day also gives us all a great opportunity to help raise awareness of the contribution and sacrifices our armed forces, both past and present, have made for our country.”
