A man was ordered to pay almost £1,500 after fly-tipping next to a “no rubbish dumping” sign.

Jamie Rolt, 26, dumped 13 bags of trade waste in Highwood Lane, Loughton, in April.

Rolt, of Monksgrove, Loughton, was traced after Epping Forest District Council discovered the rubbish came from a family home in Buckhurst Hill.

The homeowner had employed Rolt, as JCR Décor, to decorate the house and remove leftover waste.

In court Rolt was fined £483, ordered to pay £913.95 in costs and a £48 victim surcharge.

Environment councillor Will Breare-Hall said: “Thanks to the information provided to us by a bystander we were able to investigate this matter and prosecute Mr Rolt.

“With the help of our local communities, we are better equipped to help prevent the harmful effect that fly-tipping has on our environment and see that those guilty of this offence are brought to justice.”

Cllr Breare-Hall urged people to report fly-tipping by phoning 01992 564608 or online at http://ow.ly/m69U301vKHZ, including the vehicle registration, date and time of the incident.

He added: “Help us to ensure the Epping Forest district remains a clean and attractive place to live, work and visit.”
