On the eve of Britain’s first EU referendum for more than forty years, the Guardian has gathered final responses before the big day.

The deputy leader for Waltham Forest council, Clyde Loakes, spoke of the "once in a lifetime" moment for the borough.

"It’s really important that everyone gets out and votes today.

"It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for people to say how they feel.

"The Labour Party firmly believes that people should vote to remain in the European Union.

"Whether for worker’s rights, the environment, economy, it’s important that we all as Europe work together to overcome these collective challenges and problems.

"Particularly for the environmental perspective which is something I believe in.

"We can’t solve those problems individually, we solve them as a group of countries working closely together.

"Tomorrow will be a momentous day for Waltham Forest, for London and for the whole of the United Kingdom.

"People have been asking for this opportunity for a number of years now.

"I hope people take fully advantage of this, I hope we see record levels of people going out to vote.

"And I hope when they do put their vote into a ballot box, they are voting to remain in the European Union."
