A former Tottenham Hotspur captain celebrated students' success as he visited a college.

Ledley King, 36, presented more than 30 students from Epping Forest College with awards for their dedication and hard work through the year last Thursday (June 23).

The students were part of the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation Education and Football Development Centre programme at the college in Borders Lane, Loughton.

The programme was launched in partnership between the foundation and the college in 2014 and has gone on to help 70 young people gain access to a BTEC level qualification.

It combines academy-standard football coaching alongside studies for young people aged 16-19 who wish to follow a career in sports coaching or training.

Former England defender King said: “I’d like to congratulate all the students on their achievements which they should be very proud of.

“I’ve met a number of graduates from the course who have gone onto achieve great things – from playing professionally to delivering some innovative sports programmes in the local community.

“I wish them all the best of luck with the remainder of their studies and look forward to hearing about their progress.”
