A PEARLY Queen, school choir and a soaking wet headmaster all made for a fun-filled summer fair in Wanstead last weekend.

Hundreds of children, parents and teachers turned out for Wanstead Church Primary School’s annual summer fair on Saturday afternoon (June 25).

Opened by the Pearly Queen of Bow Bells and long-term Wanstead resident Doreen Golding, the fair was a “resounding success” with musical performances, children’s activities, food, drink and crafts.

Organiser Mary Richardson said: “A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the event such a success.

“We are still counting how much we made, but people were very generous.

“Highlights of the day were performances by the school choir, local guitarist Peter Black and Pop choir from Loughton.

“Headmaster Mark Hemsley nobly went into the stocks so the children could enjoy throwing wet sponges at him!”
