A GROUP of men have escaped police after attacking a van driver.
Police were called to Glen Rise in Woodford Green at 2.30pm on Monday (June 27), where they found a van and two cars crashed into each other.
When officers arrived at the scene near Woodford Station, they saw a man armed with a baton get out of a Volkswagen Passat and smash two of the van’s windows.
A number of men emerged from a Vauxhall Vectra and tried to drag the van driver from his vehicle.
The suspects ran away as soon as the off-duty police officers identified themselves.
The victim, who is in his 40s, did not want to give a police statement. The motive for the attack is unclear and investigations are ongoing.
