MAYORS from across London and Amy Winehouse’s mother came together to discuss a hospice’s vision for the future.

The council’s mayor, Peter Herrington, of Endlebury ward in Chingford, met with Janis Winehouse at Haven House in Woodford Green on Wednesday (June 29) to discuss its five-year strategy.

The children’s hospice invited representatives from Redbridge, Harlow and Hackney together with trustees from the Amy Winehouse Foundation to talk about its plans to support 500 children per year by 2020.

To meet its target the hospice has to raise £5 million pounds a year by 2020 with only a quarter of that coming from Government funding.

Guests toured the grounds, playground and the Amy Winehouse Music Room which will provide music therapy classes five days a week following a grant earlier from the late singer’s foundation.

Haven House Chief Executive, Mike Palfreman said: “We had a wonderful evening with many of our key supporters and it was great to be able to inform them about Vision 2020, our five-year strategy.

“We always appreciate the time and commitment of our supporters and their generosity will help us to care for more local life-limited children and their families in the years ahead.”
