BROTHERS and sisters of children at a hospice took part in an art exhibition as part of a scheme to help them through their siblings’ illnesses.

Siblings of children cared for by Haven House Children’s Hospice and several others across north east London and Essex had a chance to show off their artwork at an exhibition on Sunday (July 17).

The show at Haven House’s holistic care centre in High Road, Woodford Green, was part of its buddies scheme, which supports brothers and sisters of children with life-limiting conditions.

The initiative pairs siblings of children who use the hospice with others like them so they can make friends and help each other through any difficult times.

Haven House’s sibling service coordinator Sophie Nathan said: “It was great to see so many families take part in our art exhibition on Sunday.

“Creating artwork is not only a fun and enjoyable activity, but it has a therapeutic benefit for siblings experiencing bereavement helping them to communicate their emotions and feelings.”
