The much-loved tea hut in Epping Forest will officially re-open this week.

Staff, special guests and regulars at the hut in Fairmead Road, High Beach, will celebrate the relaunch on Friday (July 29) at 10am.

Manager Bradley Melton has moved the café into a larger container at the same site.

It is hoped the new hut, with upgraded facilities and improved services, will “bring it into the 21st century” after originally opening in 1930.

The City of London Corporation, which manages the forest, has begun improvements to the car park including new seating for visitors and improved entrances.

The corporation’s superintendent of Epping Forest, Paul Thomson, said: “We are pleased to work alongside Bradley and his team at the tea hut.

“We hope that both Epping Forest and tea hut visitors alike will be delighted with the new and enhanced offer at this popular site.”

Epping Forest MP Eleanor Laing is expected to help re-open the hut on Friday.
