Extended opening hours and better disabled access will be introduced at a post office later this summer.
Waltham Abbey Post Office in Sun Street will close for refurbishment at 5.30pm on Monday August 22 and will re-open on September 6.
The “modernised” branch will stay open for an extra six hours a week, with some services available Monday to Saturday, 8.30am to 6pm.
The post office will have a new layout, with three serving counters.
A portable ramp will be fitted outside and a wall will be removed, improving access for wheelchair users.
There will also be an accessible low-level serving counter and a hearing aid loop.
During the closure, Princesfield Post Office in Upshire Road will remain open, as will the branch in Waltham Cross High Street.
