TREASURE hunters are on the historical trail this Bank Holiday weekend as they explore the rich cultural heritage in the borough.

The Treasure Hunt mixes both the urban and the countryside, heading out from Chingford Station to Epping Forest this Saturday (August 27).

Meeting at 2pm the intrepid explorers will delve into Chingford’s heritage with a look into the town’s Victorian beginnings at Saints Peter and Pauls Church on The Green.

From then, players will head to Epping Forest and uncover the Tudor history behind the Queen’s Elizabeth Hunting Lodge, built in 1543 during Henry VIII’s reign.

The three hour hunt will also take in Butlers Retreat in Rangers Road, and finish with a prize giving and drinks in a pub.

Teams can have two to four players and tickets must be purchased in advance.

Individual tickets are £20 while couples can buy two for £38.
