REFUGEES and people from migrant communities will speak at an event to encourage unity.
Walthamstow Migrants’ Action Group will hold the Walthamstow Together event to welcome migrants and refugees.
Speakers at the event will include Jennette Arnold, member of the London Assembly, and Cllr Michelline Safi Ngongo, who came to the UK as a refugee from the Congo.
People from Roma and migrant communities will also be speaking at the event.
Member of Walthamstow Migrants’ Action Group, Cannon Steven Saxby, said
He said: “This is Walthamstow welcoming migrants particularly after the EU referendum and trying to reassure people that we have a place in our community for them.
“And also to be mindful of the abuse and the attacks that have happened and we want to encourage our community to be part of the welcome to refugees.”
The event will run from 1pm to 4pm in Walthamstow Town Square on Sunday, September 4.
