AN “UNSIGHTLY” car left vandalised and abandoned in a park is still there after nearly a month.
The silver Vauxhall Corsa was reported to the City of London Corporation (CoLC) after it was found abandoned near The Temple in Wanstead Park on August 18.
But after CoLC park rangers dealt with a suspected drug dealing incident in the area and saw it had been vandalised, they flagged it up to Redbridge Council as a “matter of urgency” and a “serious hazard” to families with young children.
When two weeks ago father-of-two Paul Hancock voiced his frustrations over the “unsightly” vehicle, Redbridge Council admitted it did not know about the car but would “make contact with the CoLC to arrange to remove it”.
But two weeks later, the car is still there, with its roof caved in, windows smashed and protective warning tape removed.
Mr Hancock, 43, said: “It’s ridiculous they still haven’t removed it.
“You would have thought after the complaints they would be desperate to get rid of it, it’s an absolute mess.
“I am very disappointed when I saw it still there this morning (September 12).”
Redbridge Council and CoLC have been contacted for comment.
