CHILDREN waded through spaghetti to pick out the worms in honour of a well-loved children’s author.
Oompa Loompas, Matilda, Miss Trunchball, Fantastic Mr Fox and even a giant Willy Wonka bar roamed the halls of Aldersbrook School, in Harpenden Road, Wanstead, on Friday.
The pupils dressed up as the loveable yet wacky characters and took part in a range of activities to celebrate Roald Dahl day.
They dug their hands into spaghetti to pick out the worms of Mrs Twit’s spaghetti, played ‘pin the newt on Miss Trunchball’ and took part in word searches and quizzes.
Year 3 teacher and reading leader, Emily Warwick-Baker, said: “The children had fantastic time and really enjoyed themselves.
“It was in recognition of all of Roald Dahl’s work and to inspire and encourage the children to read more books, they all loved it.”
