A bake sale, sponsored walk or fancy dress day might be good ways of raising money for charity – but how about strolling barefoot across wood embers burning at almost 500°C?
St Clare Hospice in Hastingwood is calling on people to sign up for the fiery challenge and attempt to raise £150 or more, which could pay for three home visits from hospice staff.
The event will be held at the hospice, which cares for people living with terminal or life-limiting illnesses and their families, on October 30.
Organiser Jade Clarke said: “With no tricks and no special effects, it is just you and the fire.”
She added: “What better way to show your own bravery in support of our patients and families than by braving the coals for St Clare?”
No training is needed, with guidance given on the day.
