TOWIE’s Debbie Douglas helped staff at Asda in Leyton launch the store’s Tickled Pink campaign to raise money for breast cancer charities.

The store will run activities including tombolas and lucky dips during October in order to raise cash for chosen charities Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Now.

Now in its twentieth year, Asda’s Tickled Pink campaign has raised more than £48 million for breast cancer charities, with the total expected to pass the £50 million this year.

Ms Douglas said: “I’m extremely proud to be pink by supporting Asda’s Tickled Pink campaign for Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Now.

“We all need to do our bit and get behind the events in stores because everyone knows someone who has been affected by breast cancer.

“Without the vital funds raised through Asda’s Tickled Pink campaign vital research will not be funded and people with the disease won’t receive the support they so desperately need when faced with a diagnosis.”

Breast Cancer Care provides support for people affected by the illness, while Breast Cancer Now is the UK’s largest breast cancer research charity.

Tracie Borg, community champion at Asda Leyton, said: “It was fantastic to welcome Debbie to help launch our local campaign today.

“Our colleagues and customers across east London and the rest of the UK have always been incredibly supportive of our fundraising activities and I know this time will be no different as we look to surpass £50 million.”
