A healthcare service, which visits patients in their own homes to carry out blood tests, has become the first company of its kind to be registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Regional Blood Services, which works in Waltham Forest, has provided home and work visits to carry out blood tests for NHS patients for the past 18 months.
Patients with a blood test referral form from a registered GP in the borough can book and pay for an appointment on the company's website.
The CQC is a public body, which regulates and inspects all healthcare providers and social services in England.
Regional Blood Services operations director, Nigel Tate, said: “Everyone in Waltham Forest recognises blood taking services in the borough are under enormous strain.
“Our solution is designed to help reduce pressure on blood test outpatient clinics and the inconvenience associated with having to attend a clinical environment for a blood test”.
“We recognise the importance of being registered with the CQC in order to provide the best possible service for our service users.”
