A young man from Stratford has been named as the victim of a fatal shooting in Bethnal Green.

Police say they are confident Jordon Bari, 20, is the victim of an attack which took place in Florida Street, E2, on Monday (October 3).

Two men, aged 21 and 29, were arrested at the scene of Mr Bari’s death on suspicion of murder and have since been bailed pending further enquiries.

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at around 8.05pm on Monday to reports of a shooting at a block of flats in Bethnal Green.

Firearms officers and local officers attended the scene and found Mr Bari suffering gunshot injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 8.45pm.

Detectives believe he was shot as he answered to door at an address in Florida Street by an unknown person, or persons.

No firearm has been recovered by police. Next of kin have been informed. Formal identification awaits.

A post-mortem examination has been scheduled to take place at 10.30am tomorrow, (Thursday, October 6) at Poplar Mortuary.

DCI Chris Jones, lead investigator of the case for the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around 8pm on Monday evening and saw anything suspicious in the vicinity of Florida Street to come forward and speak to police.

"At this early stage we are still working to establish the reasons why this young man was killed - if you have any information that could help, please contact us."
