East London's worst rated restaurants, pubs and hotels on Trip Advisor have been revealed... 

Ridgeway Hotel

East London and West Essex Guardian Series:

The Ridgeway Hotel, in The Ridgeway, Chingford, averaged two and a half stars on Trip Advisor and received 23 “terrible” ratings. The two-storey hotel may seem ideal for tourists who want to sightsee, as it is located one mile away from Chingford train station, where direct trains to central London take around 25 minutes, however, not every visitor had positive views on their stay.

Forest Gate Hotel

The Forest Gate Hotel, in Godwin road, Manor Park, averaged two stars. Set above a Victorian pub, the budget hotel is a 10 minute walk from Wanstead Park train station and around three miles from Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Yet, out of the 32 reviews it received from travellers, 17 were unsatisfied.

The Bell Hotel, in High Road, Bell Common, in Epping, was criticised for its lack of cleanliness and as a result, only averaged two and a half stars on Trip Advisor.

Meanwhile, Delicataste, in High Street, Wanstead, scored an unimpressive one and a half stars. The breakfast café received 11 reviews, seven of which rated the restaurant “terrible” and two were “poor”.

The Greene Man Pub, in Old Church Road, Chingford, averaged two and a half stars and received 20 terrible reviews.

The pub serves simple grub suited to families, including breaded mushrooms, garlic bread and chicken fingers as a starter, or cheese, onion and potato pie, jumbo cod and chips or a foot long hot dog for a main course.

Not every diner left the establishment feeling satisfied though.

Cakes & Shakes, in High Road, Loughton, offers a plethora of brightly coloured and sickly-sweet cakes, smoothies and milkshakes that are perfect for keeping your children content during the weekends or school holidays. However, there has been a mixed response from customers and so the eatery has only averaged two and a half stars.

Papa John's

Despite being the third largest take-out and pizza delivery restaurant chain in the world, Papa John's, in High Road, Loughton, received only one star on Trip Advisor and all eight reviews left on the website were “terrible”.

The Chinaman, in Borders Lane, Loughton, received six terrible reviews and only two stars.

The Talbot

The Talbot pub, High Road, North Weald Bassett, Epping, offers Tapas style starters, including sweet potato and red onion skewers, grilled chorizo and duck wings. For those with a sweet tooth, there is also a sundae parlour, which serves lashings of ice-cream with chocolate fudge brownies, strawberry sauce and cream toffee or honeycomb drizzled on top.

However, this pub has left a bitter taste in many customers.
