International cultural producers from Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe, DR Congo, Brazil and India come to east London tomorrow to deliver TED style talks.
They will speak alongside some of the UK’s most prolific artists and social commentators at Shoreditch’s Rich Mix on Bethnal Green Road, in an event organised by the international creative organisation In Place of War.
Each of the 20 cultural producers will deliver TED style talks about creative activism, cultural production, cultural spaces and digital, funding, tools and future.
International speakers and oragnisations include Mc Benny Acholi Muding from Northern Uganda HipHop Culture-NUHC in Uganda, Fabio Pedroza, from Moreis Convida in Brazil, Lorraine Charlotte from the Bgoya, Magamba Network in Zimbabwe, and Miqueas Figueroa from Tiuna El Fuerte in Venezuela.
UK producers speaking include Dan Glass from The Glass Is Half Full, Fenella Dawnay and Kirstin Shirling from Good Chance Theatre, David Heinemann from Index on Censorship, and Jonny Hesketh from The Yellow House.
In Place of War is a multi-award winning organisation based within The University of Manchester that empowers, mobilises and connects artists and creative communities in sites of war, post-conflict and humanitarian disaster.
