Staff and managers are celebrating after their pub won first prize in the Enterprise Community Heroes Awards.

Ye Olde Rose and Crown pub in Hoe Street, Walthamstow, scooped the award for the Greater London region in the awards for pubs that make contributions to their communities.

The pub regularly hosts charity and fundraising events and supports other businesses and community groups in the area.

Andrew Yon, who is one of the managers, said: “It is absolutely brilliant and it is definitely exciting not just for us but for the whole Walthamstow community.

“Considering the amount of pubs in the competition it is quite nice for us to be given this award.

“We are really happy about the award and now we need to sit down and figure out how to spend the money.

“We have hosted a lots of charity fundraisers throughout the years and we will probably host another community event with the cash.

“We were runners up in the awards last year so it is great we won this year.”

The pub was awarded £3,000 to spend on community projects.
