MORE than 500 children from 30 primary schools ran their hearts out during a cross country challenge.

Hosted by Chingford’s 105-year-old running club, the Orion Harriers, the event schoolchildren from across the borough to take on a mile-long cross country course on the Chingford Plains on Saturday (October 15).

Club Manager Jane Farrier said she was overwhelmed by the number of entries this year.

She added: "This event has been hosted by Orion for over 25 years now and we are delighted to see how it has grown over the years.

“But this year exceeded all our expectations with over 250 boys and girls in each race."

The top three boys and girls took home trophies for their efforts, along with the top three boys’ and girls’ team.

Chingford Church of England Primary School, in Kings Road, came first in both the boys' and girls' team events.
