A TEENAGER claims he was left feeling “sick” and was put of his food after he found a hair in his doner kebab.

Shazil Qazi, of Burwell Road, Leyton, was tucking into his dinner from Tasty Fish Bar, in Lea Bridge Road, when he says he discovered the strand in his meal.

But the restaurant owners told the Guardian Series the family refused to hand the food back for inspection, claiming they wanted to finish their meal.

His mother, Anila, had spent £20 on the food which entitled them to a free bottle of coca-cola – but says when she requested a refund, she was ordered to pay £2 for the drink.

Mrs Qazi said: “My son said he felt sick after eating the kebab and seeing the hair in it.

“My daughter and I also felt sick after seeing it and none of us could eat. Shazil was angry and I tried to calm him down by offering to buy him a burger from the takeaway on the corner of the road but he said he just wanted to go to bed.

“I rang them straight away to tell them and they said he would replace it or refund me.

“But when I said I would like a refund they said I would have to pay £2 for the coke, which came free with our delivery.

“They were very unprofessional and they had no customer service and no manners. I just said you can keep the refund.”

Mrs Qazi said if the matter had been resolved amicably, she would have eaten at the takeaway again and even recommended it to others.

She said: “It was my first time eating there and I have a big family and would have recommended them but now I will never go there again.

“Just for a couple of pounds they are ruining their future custom.”

The restaurant has a four-star hygiene rating, one point short of the five – the highest.

But manager of Tasty Fish Bar, Bulut Meric, said Mrs Qazi refused to hand the kebab back for inspection.

He said: “When the customer rang to say she found a hair in her food I offered to have it picked up and refunded.

“But she refused, saying she would like to finish her kebab.

“I don’t believe that she found a hair.

“I have worked here for seven years and nothing like this has happened.

“I am angry about the situation and when she said she was going public with it I felt it was not right.”
