Jewellery worth £8,000 was stolen from a family home by burglars posing as water company workers.

Detectives have released CCTV images of four men they want to speak to after the burglary in Westwood Road, Woodford Green, on September 20.

Police were called to the address at 12.40pm.

Two men visited the house on the same day pretending to be maintenance workers from a water company carrying out routine checks.

The victim was home with her young child, who answered the door and the men entered.

One of the men distracted the victim by pretending to check her kitchen pipes before two other men arrived.

The two men entered the house and began searching through the living room and bedrooms.

They stole four gold rings, eight gold bracelets, two sets of earrings and a watch, as well as £280 in cash.

The burglary happened between 11.10am and 11.50am.

All four men are believed to have arrived in a dark BMW 1 Series car and fled the scene in the direction of Percy Road in the same car.

One man was described as white with short bleached hair, aged around 30-years-old and approximately 5ft 10ins tall.

The second was a white man with short dark hair, shaved at the sides.

He is around 25-years-old and 6ft 2ins tall.

The third was a white man of medium build, around 30-years-old and approximately 5ft 10ins tall.

The fourth was a white man of medium build, aged in his mid-20s and approximately 5ft 10ins tall.
