A controversial block of flats which would block sunlight to church windows will be voted on this evening (October 26).
The Royal Mail group has applied to demolish its former Loughton office, close to Morrison’s in the High Road, and replace it with a six-storey building.
Planners have recommended Epping Forest district councillors approve the application, despite assessments showing the block would block light to some windows at Loughton Methodist Church.
The 30-home development contains only half the required amount of “affordable” housing and critics have said it would not fit with the character of the area.
However, council officers said it would add to housing supply and will not “significantly harm” neighbours or the area.
District councillors will vote on the plans tonight from 7.30pm in Roding Valley High School.
