Lapan Cooking Classes, Malmesbury Road, south Woodford

Lapan Cooking is offering small classes of four students the opportunity to cook Thai, Malaysian, Indonesian and Singaporean meals from scratch.

People of all ages and abilities are welcome to attend the classes, where they will be given a full explanation of the various ingredients used in the meals, which include a Tauhu Sumbat, made up of stuffed fried tofu with chilli and plum sauce, Udang Bakar, chilli and garlic prawns smoked in banana leaves and Rendang Daging, caramelized beef in a rich and thick sweet and sour sauce, served with Thai pandan rice.

The classes last for around three hours and usually run on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, from 6pm to 9pm and also Saturdays and Sundays at 10am to 1pm.

Cupcake Decorating, Redbridge Institute of Adult Education, Gaysham Avenue, in Gants Hill, Ilford

Cupcake decorating is the first step towards learning to garnish bigger birthday cakes and other sweet treats, as well as helping you turn your hobby into a business. This class will teach you what ingredients to put in your cupcakes, including flour, sugar and eggs, and will also inform about various types of icing. Within no time, you will be able to impress family and friends with your piping skills.

Classes for beginners are running every Tuesday, from 6.45pm to 9.15pm, until Tuesday, November 8.

The Primrose Bakery, Tavistock Street, Covent Garden

If you are willing to travel a little further into London, The Primrose Bakery offers cupcake baking classes to groups or solo enthusiasts. The head chefs at the bakery will pass on their knowledge and show you how ice cupcakes with the Primrose signature swirl, along with tips on using a palette knife and piping.

The classes will be running from the bakery in Covent Garden from Saturday, November 5, at 10am to 11.30am, to Sunday, December 4, at 2.30pm to 4pm, where there will be a special Christmas lesson.

All participants will receive a complimentary drink during the class, as well as an apron and box to take away all the cupcakes you will make.

E5 Bakehouse, Mentmore Terrace, London Fields

The E5 Bakehouse is an east London bakery and coffee shop, located in a railway arch beneath London fields Station that is passionate about sourdough and using locally-sourced, organic ingredients. They also welcome budding bakers into their kitchen take part in a one day bread making class, a pizza making class or a course that delves into cuisine from around the world, including Middle Eastern, Indian or Spanish and Italian dishes.

There is also a cake and pastry class, led by a pastry chef who will give tips on achieving a professional finish to your patisserie.
