Former Chancellor, George Osborne announced the £7.20 National Living Wage, at his first Conservative Budget in July, last year.

Over a year later, data taken from the annual survey of hours and earnings, shows 36.6 percent of hourly pay jobs in the borough are below the living wage.

Coming in a close second is Sutton, with 36 per cent of jobs rates paying below the living wage.

In 2015, Waltham Forest was the highest still with 40.1 per cent of hourly pay jobs below the living wage.

At the other end of the scale, the City has the lowest number of jobs below living wage with 5.8 per cent, followed by Islington with 11.2 per cent.

At the current Chancellor Philip Hammond’s first Autumn Statement, he announced a boost to the National Living Wage.

From April next year, the Chancellor confirmed it will increase from £7.20 to £7.50, in a bid to meet his predecessor’s £9 an hour target by 2020.
