PARENTS are on edge following a spate of school run burglaries in a residential road.
People living in Selwyn Avenue, in Highams Park, were the victim of burglaries believed to be targeting Christmas presents while parents take their kids to school.
At 8.30am a group of burglars managed to break inside a house while its residents were out, but they were unsuccessful in their second attempt at another address nearby just 15 minutes later.
Brooke Clarke, who lives in the road, said it seemed to be a group of teenagers with their hoods up, using bricks to smash their way in.
She said: “The houses had been watched to see who was leaving for the school run.
“It seems they're after Christmas presents, laptops and iPads.
“I don't want to scare anyone but it may be an idea to make sure all windows and doors are locked.”
